About our Resident Artists - Paul Griggs

Paul lives and works as a full time artist just outside the market town of Diss, Norfolk. Paul's original artwork has sold all over the UK and Europe, and has also reached the US and Canada. Always painting wet-on-wet using oils, Paul loves the vibrancy of the colours and the beautiful blends of tones that he can create with this medium. The artist has always resisted using quick drying acrylics as he believes that oils have a look of quality and depth in colour that truly enhance any painting.
Paul paints in a semi-abstract style and always straight onto a blank canvas, never sketching beforehand as he feels it restricts his creativity.Inspired by natures light, and keeping his art very tonal, Paul strives every day to create artwork that is...Read more

About our Resident Artists - Robert Jackson

Robert Jackson is an established professional artist living and working in Cheshire. He studied fine art first at college and then at university after finishing his degree he set up studio and has been painting ever since.Over the past few years Robert's work has evolved from traditional sunset paintings towards metallic textured, abstract art, which like a traditional sunset, attempt to capture light on canvas. His work is certainly unique and departs from the established concept of abstract art. Both heat and light appear to be fused into the surface of his canvases and his use of metallic paint and texture create works that often change with the ambient light or the viewer's position in relation to the piece. The materials used also depart from preconceptions of painting: Acrylic, metallic paint...Read more

About our Resident Artists - Carol Mountford

Carol loves painting cities - especially New York, London and Venice, trying to capture the atmosphere of the places.New York has so much energy and vitality that once the outline of the painting is done it seems to take on a life of its own, with bright lights contrasting with dark shadows, people hustling about, and cars and cabs rushing.Carol says, "New York is about the only cityscape you can't 'overdo', as the more pattern and splashes of paint and colour the better."London has a more subdued energy with its dark buildings with small areas of bright lights, whilst Venice is all about mystery and atmosphere.Carol paints in watercolour and gouache with dashes of pastel. About our Resident Artists - Leila Godden

It was always a dream to go to Art College, but somehow life got in the way for many years. After a Business Studies degree and too many years working in finance, I knew I needed an outlet for my creativity, so enrolled on an evening class to take an A level in Art & Design. The dream became reality and I spent two years at Herefordshire College of Art and Design, completing a part time Art Foundation course. Regular trips to The St Ives School of Painting have also been a huge source of inspiration and tuition for me, and I started selling my paintings through galleries in 2000.As well as mixed exhibitions I have had several solo shows, and my paintings are enjoyed in France, Italy and Israel, as well as the UK. As well as painting, I am an Aromatherapist and Life Coach. My aim is to produce paintings which capture the essence of a subject but allow a personal response and express more than just the visual qualities.Texture is important in building up an exciting image which allows interplay between the source inspiration and the materials themselves. I may include fabric, sand, and textured mediums to add depth and visual impact.
I use acrylic paint, and thoroughly enjoy the versatility of this fabulous medium, which allows enormous scope to include mixed media, and achieve...Read more
