About our Resident Artists - Carol Mountford

Carol loves painting cities - especially New York, London and Venice, trying to capture the atmosphere of the places.New York has so much energy and vitality that once the outline of the painting is done it seems to take on a life of its own, with bright lights contrasting with dark shadows, people hustling about, and cars and cabs rushing.Carol says, "New York is about the only cityscape you can't 'overdo', as the more pattern and splashes of paint and colour the better."London has a more subdued energy with its dark buildings with small areas of bright lights, whilst Venice is all about mystery and atmosphere.Carol paints in watercolour and gouache with dashes of pastel.
